Right now is a great time to start thinking about scheduling a family portrait. You may be thinking, “There is so much to think about when planning a family portrait: What are we going to wear? How will the photographer pose us? How can we keep the kids happy? Where are we going to do this and what will the lighting be like?” In this, my first in a series of blogs updates focused specifically on the family portrait, I will help address those concerns.
First, let’s consider location. Your decision on location is going to drive your decision on what to wear and what kind of poses you will want as well as what we can do to help keep young children engaged, safe and happy.
Every family has it’s own personality and activities that they enjoy together and these are what should be considered when choosing the location for your family portrait. It’s not just about posing in front of a pretty background in the studio anymore (but we can still do that if you like!). Think about your happiest times together…is it camping or hiking? If so, let’s go to the mountains! M
aybe your family spends their best times together boating and swimming? We can do a beautiful portrait on your dock or boat or even by the pool. And there are many families out there who enjoy off-roading…put on your gear and let’s get out there! Don’t forget we have the beautiful beaches nearby as well.
While the weather has been a bit humid lately, for the most part, we live in paradise with the desert, mountains or beach all within an hour and these are all amazing backdrops for a beautiful photo.
